My Mark has always had a beard; at first when I met him all those years ago I wasn’t all together sure if I liked that particular feature about him but as the years passed I have grown fond of it. I know this as a fact because when he does shave it off for an occasion I tend to scream when he walks into the room, more from the shock of how much the difference in the way he looks is rather than the sudden introduction to the face behind the fuzz.
Now back in the old days when as I said I wasn’t a total beard fan, and as any good woman would do in their quest to shape the man they have into the man we believe they should be I would drop the odd subtle and sometimes not so subtle hints into our day to day conversations…
So have you always had a beard?
I wonder what you look like without a beard, could I see?
Maybe a small short goatee rather than the captain Birdseye look, what do you think darling?
I had limited success and was usually rebuffed with the catch me all phrase that “one day the rest of society will catch up and that beards will be the essential accessory for men everywhere you just wait and see”. Oh God I would think to myself, he thinks the 70’s are coming back, let’s hope that doesn’t apply to flares! Though I do miss leg warmers, especially in winter 😉
Now I hate to be proven wrong but sure enough a couple of years ago suddenly beards where everywhere, TV, films, fashion magazines, billboard posters… you couldn’t move for beards… Mark was happy and for once looked like he was riding the crest of this modern dapper look.
Though I am now reliably informed by Fashion Beans that the clean shave is having a came back. The beard is slowly returning to the resting place of the rubbish bin as men everywhere start their day once again with a razor. The time of the beard is again coming to an end.
How long before my man looks fashionable once again… Am I back to screaming as he emerges with his clean shaven “naked” face from the bathroom in the mornings?
Do you like beards?
I love beard but my wife not like it. Still some time not take care about it i have grown goatee with stubble beard style.
Oh no I detest any kind of facial hair well apart from eye brows & eye lashes of course!
I’m not a fan if I’m honest and when the husband decides to grow one (he’s only grown one twice in the 10 years we’ve been married) I’m always pleased when he shaves it off again!
I’m a beard gal and actively encouraged my Oh to grow a beard when we met and luckily most of the time he’s stayed with that one way or another
I love my man clean shaven. I am not a fan of the beard tickling my face when he kisses me.
I am very much a clean shaven fan. When my husband lets his facial hair grow I wait patiently for him to shave! Obviously I drop major hints!
Great article!
I wouldnt mind my guy with a goatie but it really would not suit him!!
As for a moustache? No thank you!!
I love beards. My other half sometimes has one, sometimes shaves it off. I hope it carries on this way for all times as I love having the variety!
I love facial hair on my mister, I feel sad when he shaves x
My dad has always had a beard and looks very odd without it. I couldn’t imagine hubby with one though
I am addicted to beards! My hubby has had one for 3 years without shaving it off, and I don’t see it going anywhere soon!
well I am from Liverpool and I can honestly say i would never choose a moustache.
I am not a beard fan, but with this cold winter in NYC I think my husband wishes he had one to keep his face nice and warm.
stubble will always do it for me! always!
Some men look great in them. I like the look only if it’s not too long no more than 1/2 inch. I prefer 3 day look. But as for my guy clean shaven is easier on my skin. 😉
My husband had a beard for a while. He had to shave for his new job. I think he looks younger without.
I prefer the clean shaven look. I’m not a beard fan.
I liked beards for a long time until my early 20’s. When I met my husband he didn’t and still doesn’t, have one. But he started one a few months ago and i loved it. Then he shaved it 🙁
I love a beard. I didn’t used to like it when I was younger but now I love them. My husband’s facial hair varies. He grows a beard for a few weeks and then shaves it off, then grows a beard again. Although I like beards, I absolutely hate moustaches.
I think some stubble is ok. My husband has a gotie, he once shaved everything off, and I couldn’t get over it. Some people just look better with facial hair in my opinion. Some clean shaven faces though are really nice.
Can’t say I’d want my husband to have one…. my Dad has always had one, apart from once when he shaved it off before returning from his 6 month work away at sea – I screamed when I opened the door to him, it was like he was a stranger!
The husbeast did not have a beard for years, but recently he has grown one, he loves it and so I HAVE to!
I’m not keen on beards and my husband has never grown one but they do look good on some men.
Ok, truth? I am a HUGE fan of the beard now 🙂 My hubby has a short beard and goatee thingy lol… but i <3 it!
Some women really like beards on men. I’m not a huge fan of the look.
I am not a fan of beards so clean shaven is my vote for sure.
I like the look of them, but not the feel of them, so I wouldn’t want my hubby to grow one.
I MUCH prefer my husband with a beard, it gives his face some definition and hides a wobbly chin, haha! (I don’t feel mean saying it as he agrees too!
I’m not much of a bread fan, I like a bit of stubble though. A little scruff is nice!
My husband lets his beard get to a certain point before it starts to annoy him, and me! I don’t mind a little stubble though x
