Big thank you to OXO Tot for providing us with a lovely selection of toddler feeding products.
There comes a time in the life of every toddler when being spoon fed just isn’t good enough. The food looks funky, the colours are appealing and they simple want to have a go themselves… It is a great stage, yet at the same time a very messy period in their development!
Oxo Tot sent us a lovely toddler feeding set to aid in minimising messiness during this time.
The set includes:
- Large bowl
It is design for kids from 12 months old. Well, Leo isn’t 12 months yet… he will be soon… very soon… but he is more than ready and eager to attempt independent eating.
The Oxo Tot feeding set is extremely well made plus it is pleasing to the eye. Its design is very clever and extremely helpful.
Let’s take the plate for example: its base is weighted and non-slip so it is not so easy for it to slide plus it features a raised curved ring, which really helps with keeping the food inside the plate instead of on your floor. The ring can be removed if / when needed which means that plate will grow with your toddler.
The bowl was the perfect size – 360ml. It is ideal for most meals, which means you really have no need for an entire selection of different dishes. The bowl features a non-slip weighted base and high walls to make scooping food an easier task.
I have to admit, we like the set; we like it a lot. It makes feeding time a more enjoyable experience. Plus it is BPA, phthalate and PVC free and it is dishwasher safe (yes, I am just being selfish now but I really dislike doing the dishes). The set is priced at £18 which makes it a great value for money.
When it comes to packed lunches a lot of people tend to skip on the more adventurous foods due to transportation issues. The result, salads and soups just aren’t as popular as the humble sandwich, and I believe that it is mainly due to the fact that they aren’t easy to pack… well with the right tools everything is possible.
Sometime ago I was introduced to monbento.
Monbento is a French based company offering beautifully designed kitchen accessories that are perfect at helping us enjoy our more adventurous lunches. Monbento are mainly known for their bento boxes, which are ideal for lunch at the office, picnics or TV dinners but I discovered that this is not all they have to offer.
The product which caught my eye the most was a double wall bowl. This airtight, BPA-free, dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe bowl has simple stylish looks and is perfect. It is just the right size for a lunch (450ml capacity) and it even comes with its own spoon already built in, so no need to worry about forgetting your cutlery any more.
Having this new funky looking bowl became a great inspiration for spicing up our lunch menu.
So today I am sending Mark to work with a Pasta & Tuna Salad 😉
- 250g pasta, I used simple macaroni
- 2 tins of tuna chunks in oil
- 1 tin of sweetcorn
- 1 small onion; fine chopped
- 1 pepper (I used half a red one and half a yellow one, just to add a bit more colour)
- 2 large celery sticks
- ½ iceberg lettuce
- ½ lemon; juiced
- 3tbsp of mayonnaise
- 1/2tsp fresh ground black pepper
- 1/2tsp sweet smoked paprika
- Spring onion to garnish
Cook your pasta as per the instructions on the packet, be careful and do not overcook it; then drain and allow to cool. Oh, and don’t forget to salt the water.
Whilst your pasta is cooking you should have just enough time to prepare everything else.
Chop the peppers and celery up into small chunks – ideally you want to have more or less the same amount of peppers as celery – and place in a large bowl.
Finely chop the onion; add to the bowl.
Cut the lettuce into small pieces and also pop into the bowl.
Open and drain the sweetcorn, pop it into the bowl.
Open and half drain the tuna – you don’t want to get rid of all oil just the excess bit.
Gently mix all the ingredients, ready for pasta.
Once your pasta is cooked, cold and well drain; add it to the bowl holding all your other ingredients; add lemon juice, pepper and paprika as well as mayonnaise and mix gently.
Garnish with spring onions and serve… or place in a monbento container ready to be taken for lunch.
What would you put in a monbento bowl?
We all know that staying well hydrated is a big deal and something which we shouldn’t forget about especially as summer is fully upon us now. That said, despite the fact that I clearly posses this knowledge, I very often forget to drink. I feel thirsty I wonder downstairs planning to get a drink and then… I get distracted. Time passes by and I still didn’t get myself that drink of water… I feel a bit tired (as I didn’t really drink) so I get a coffee (bad choice) and so on and so on… Ever since the lovely people at OXO sent me a twist top bottle my drinking routine has become much better. Maybe because the bottle is quite big, so it can hold more water, maybe because it has a top so no dust, hair or fly’s can get into my drink or maybe because it has a straw, which makes it more fun… not sure what the reason really is and it doesn’t really matter, but the fact is that my OXO Good Grips Twist Top Bottle is in use every day, all day.
I want to share with you the OXO Good Grips Twist Top Bottle description from the website, so you can have a bit better understanding what I am talking about.
Simplify sipping with the OXO Good Grips 24 oz Twist Top Bottle. The large opening makes filling, cleaning and adding ice easy. The 24 oz Twist Top Bottle features a soft, non-slip carrying loop that is angled downwards for a natural, comfortable hold and is perfect for attaching to backpacks. Convenient measurement markings help track how much you’re drinking and can be used as a reference when adding supplements. The Bottle fits in most car and exercise machine cup holders and the soft, flexible straw is easy to drink from while on the move. The twist-open lid keeps the straw covered and clean, and prevents spills when not in use.

Now it will be easier for me to explain what I like about the bottle.
First the bottle is blue, it might be a silly reason for some but I like the colour blue and I like things to be colour coordinated so this works out for me perfectly.
Secondly the twist top makes it secure – leak and spill proof – all you have to do it to twist the top in order to bend the straw and pinch it closed.
Third it has a wide opening, which makes it so much easier to fill with ice or thick drinks like milk shakes or fruit smoothies full of bits.
And last but not least it has a fantastic non slip handle for caring it around. The handle is fairly small which is great as it doesn’t make the bottle too bulky.
Oh and I almost forgot… you can easily pull it to pieces so keeping it clean is not a problem.
Is there something I do not like about it?
Actually yes, there is one thing which I would love to see fixed or corrected. OXO Good Grips Twist Top Bottle has some lovely measuring marks – they are both in ml and oz but they only go up to 500ml / 16oz and bottle itself can hold up to 710ml / 24oz. It might not be a big problem but sometimes it is good to know exactly how much fluid we consume, so an enlarged scale of markings would come in very handy.
In UK this bottle is sold in blue only and it has a RRP of £10.
I think OXO Good Grips Twist Top Bottle represents great value for money. It is well made, the design is simple yet very practical and it is BPA free, so you really don’t have to worry about drinking the contents if left in a car in a heat wave.
So if you are on the market for a new water bottle I would highly recommend OXO Good Grips Twist Top Bottle.
OXO Good Grips Twist Top Bottle gets my approval and I am linking it into Tried and Tested.

Every kitchen needs some special food containers, no matter how careful we try to be there are always some leftovers which need storing, but the food containers are not just for leftovers, are they?
Food manufacturers try to aid us with storage but their ideas aren’t always up to the task.
Have you ever bought a packed ham or a pack of sliced cheese in a “resealable” packaging? Did it work for you? As it goes its hardly ever working for me… I open the pack take the slice or two and after few unsuccessful attempts of resealing the packet, I just take the content and move it into a size appropriate container, to keep it fresh for longer.
I seem to always run out of food containers… maybe because of my slight OCD when it comes to segregation… I do not like it when certain things get mixed up… so they all need to be in their own separate little box 🙂
I received a lovely selection of Addis Clip & Close food containers and I must admit they do work much better than your standard food storage boxes with flat lids which you just push down. Clip & Close boxes are so much more secure, really there is no escape once you have placed something in it. Believe me there is nothing coming out of them once they are closed 😉
Addis offers an awesome selection of food containers. You can pick from small, round, rectangular, or square; they can hold liquids or dry foods (this one is specially designed with cereals in mind); size wise your choice ranges from 180ml going all the way up to 8.3l. The prices range from £1.99 for a small one up to £11.99 for the giant 8.3l one.
All Addis Clip & Close containers are 100% airtight thanks to an all around silicone seal and 4 clips on the lid. They are all dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe and BPA Free, which is a huge plus in my eyes. The scientists are still working to determine if BPA is or isn’t safe, and if it is at which dosage but until this verdict is out I prefer my plastics to be BPA free… just in case.
Food containers are a must have in every kitchen and it is important to invest in good quality boxes, after all these containers “look after” your food. I like to believe that the better the container the longer my food will stay fresh and sexy.
Do you find yourself running out of food containers all the time or is it just me?
