How to get paid for your opinions

In this modern age a lot of people are very interested not only in what we think but also in why we think what we do. They want to know why our train of thoughts go in this way and not the opposite direction, so this gives rise to a lot of opportunities to earn some extra money for our opinions. I know and use some companies which are happy to “listen” to me and reward me for my time spent answering the questions.

Opinium Research Opinium Research

This is one of the companies which do paid surveys.  You register, fill out some initial questionnaires and you are ready to start. Yes, they do not pay much, as you will get only 50p or £1 or maybe £1.50 for a single study but the money adds up fast if you stick with it and you have some spare time on your hands in which to do it.

TickboxTickbox

Tickbox have changed the way they work in the last year or so. Now they offer reward points, which you can swap for goodies. Every survey you make for them gives you X amount of points. Once you have collected the desired amount of points, you can simply swap them for your choice of item.

Join The Dots Join The Dots

This is one of the market research companies who offer a wide selection of activities for which you will be awarded a money incentive. I took part in the focus group regarding one of the national newspapers and I received £150 for 2 hours of my time. On another occasion I took part in a weeklong project and shared with them what I shared with my friends or family via the net, or what they shared with me… this gave me £50 (I think).

Clicks ResearchClicks Research

This one offers product for reviews, I am not sure if you can get paid in cash… if you do I have never taken part in a project like this for them. Yet again, the idea is simple… create an account, fill out the questionnaire and wait for a project invite to land in your mail box… but remember, you have to be fast with your reply as some project fill up within minutes of the invites going out.

BzzAgentBzzAgent

With BzzAgent, same as with Click Research you are not going to be paid in cash, but you will receive products for free, for testing. In exchange your role is to spread your honest opinion about the product and share it with your friends and family. On the website each campaign has activities you should complete – share on Facebook or Twitter, write a short review, write a conversation report revealing who you talked to about the product and what was their reaction etc… I love BzzAgent because it gives me the opportunity to try out products, which in some cases I wouldn’t necessary buy… also I like talking about my new discoveries 🙂  Also if I receive a project invite I know I am in as I was already pre-selected, there is no more waiting with anticipation.

Super Savvy MeSuper Savvy Me

It works on the same principles as BzzAgent. Once you have an account, and once a new project is up you will receive an email. The difference is, not every campaign email equals a spot in it – you will have to apply for it and wait to see if you are selected.

Come Round

Come Round

Come Round is different model to BzzAgent or Super Savvy Me. Basically you are signing up to host a party for your friends, which will reflect the theme of a current campaign. Last year I was very lucky to be picked as a host for some fantastic projects, I hosted #MadTeaParty, #PhilipsBeauty Party, #PhilipsPerfectCare party and I took part in #stylechallenge with French Connection. Come Round will provide you with everything you need in order to make the party happen and you are going to get to keep the goodies afterwards 🙂 So yet again, not a cash reward per say but some of the party packs are really worth a lot of money, so if you are a party animal and the topic suits you, it is worth a try.

RevoolyRevooly

Revooly is a new website dedicated to price comparisons for household items and gadgets as well as honest reviews made by users. There is a Wish List on the website with products which need to be reviewed. No, you will not get the product but you will get paid for writing a review if you already own the product. Price per review is based on a % of the current lowest price for this product on the market. I registered an interest for reviewing a Morphy Richard 44038 Toaster – it was priced at 50% of market value, which gave me almost £20 for my review, which if you want you can read here – it is review 2 🙂

revooly screenshot

So, how does it work?

Go to Revooly website and create an account. Have a browse through their Wish List and pick a product you own and fancy writing about. Once that step is completed, book your slot. You will receive an email confirming your product and review price; it will also be logged on your account. You will have 14 days to write your review and upload it onto their system. Three days before your deadline you will receive a reminder, this is the only reminder which will come and if you miss the stated time frame then the job goes back onto the Wish List and someone else will be eligible to sign up for it. There are 2 ways of making your review – written review + at least 3 pictures of the product or a video review. Worth remembering is that once you upload your review onto their website you are losing all rights to the content of it; Revooly will own your review from this point in time. They do pay via Paypal and I received my payment within 24h after my review was proofread and published.

I like the idea of this service a lot. As long as you own a product and want to share your thoughts about it, you have a chance to make some money.

I know that there are other companies out there but so far I have not been able to find or try any of them.

If you worked with someone else, please do share!

I would love to explore some new opportunities out there.

Come Round #PhilipsPerfectCare Party

PHILIPS-IRON-BANNER-EMAIL

Yesterday I had the privilege of being the host of a new Come Round and Philips party.

The theme was:

Don't Burn It. Steam It. Get Party Ready!
Don’t Burn It, Steam It.
Get Party Ready!

Our awesome party pack contained:

  • Philips PerfectCare Azur Steam Iron
  • Philips Ironing Board
  • Scarf
  • 10 x glitter nail varnish
  • 10 x emery boards
  • 10 x manicure set
  • 5 x shoe shine kits
  • 12 x montagne Jeunesse Face masks
  • 10 x party balloons
  • An A4 Party Planner
  • A Philips PerfectCare A1 Poster
  • Information pack about the iron

Our party theme was supposed to be about getting “party ready” with the added stress free thought that no matter what happens you not going to burn your little black number with the iron. However we changed the theme a bit and made it into a “Get Life-Skills Ready”, why? You may ask, well let me explain. I invited some friends who have teenagers, who themselves are just starting out on their journey into the joys of house work, including the obligatory ironing. The boys all attend the Army Cadets and they have to iron their own uniforms, and they have to iron them perfectly otherwise they get into trouble. No one enjoys a Drill Sergeant 2” from your nose yelling at you that your ironing skills are less than useless.  I wanted to show them that ironing could be fun and it doesn’t have to be hard work.

getting uniform ready

They tried the new Azur Steam Iron and all of them admitted to the fact that it is so much easier than the irons they used normally. The one thing that they all liked, above all else was that there was no need for fiddling with any settings… you just turn it on, wait for the flashing light to go stop flashing and you are ready to iron anything you want…

One of the party challenges was a Balloon Challenge. The instructions were simple:

1. Take one of the balloons from the party pack and blow it up while waiting for the iron to heat up (do not over-inflate the balloon)

2. Test how safe and gentle the PerfectCare Azur is, even on a delicate balloon surface. Place the balloon on the ironing board and put the PerfectCare Azur on top of the balloon. Let go of the balloon and apply steam! For safety reasons do not try this with any other iron and do not point the iron towards yourself or any of your guests as the steam will be hot! Do not touch the hot soleplate.

And this is how we did it:

Our balloon lasted much longer than we expected! Amazing!

Our party was a success. We all learnt something new. Thank you Philips and thank you Come Round!

Ohh

And I have something for you too.  If you fancy getting yourself a new Philips PerfectCare Azur Iron follow this link and you can get it with 50% or 53% discount, depending on which model you choose. This special offer is valid until 29th December 2013. Sounds like a Xmas present possibility for someone…

Once I have had more time with both my new iron and the ironing board I will share my thoughts and experiences with you, as so far I haven’t had a lot of time to get to know them yet. 🙂

#sketchtostore #stylechallenge with Come Round and French Connection

Last month I took part in #sketchtostore style challenge with Come Round and French Connection. Our party took place at the Cambridge store.

My guests and I (plus everyone else who took part in the party for that matter) received a 20% discount on the day plus a goodie bag which included:

  • #sketchtostore small notebook and pencil
  • St.Tropes Instant Tan
  • Ritual Yogi Flow Shower Gel
  • Box of chocolates from Lindt

It was the first time that Come Round had organized an in-store party. The idea was great but execution could maybe be better. The point of the party was to try on the new collection and thus try to re-style yourself, which was totally fantastic and tons of fun, but it is impossible to try something on if the stock is missing… and unfortunately in the Cambridge store there were a lot of sizes out of stock.

I was the most unlucky one, size wise, all the trousers which I would love to try on and potentially buy were only going up to size 12 (I need a 14, which were all sold out 🙁) so no shopping for me on the day… To make up for this situation we were given a 20% discount (to match up the discount on the day of the party) to be used at a later date, which I thought was a really nice touch from French Connection… thank you so much for that… But not everyone was as unlucky as me… some of my guests shopped till they almost dropped 🙂

Happy Shoppers
Happy Shoppers

The store staff were very nice and extremely helpful. We were greeted with a selection of drinks and snacks, which were available throughout the evening.

Despite the fact that I personally wasn’t able to buy anything I really enjoyed this event. It was a fun few hours spent with friends and surrounded by great clothes, even more fantastic shoes and accessories to die for.

Let’s hope this wasn’t just a one off and there will be more in-store parties in the future.

But this isn’t all. Now, we have been given the chance of winning £1250 for the best group picture, so I need your help.

So if you can, please like our picture on Facebook… and if on 13-10-2013 our picture will have the most likes from all the Cambridge shots, we will be put forward into the final voting stage to win the main prize…
