Toddler Life – Summer, Pool & Petits Filous

Toddler Life – Summer, Pool & Petits FilousWe all know how important having the correct nutrition is (or at least I hope we all know). It’s important to us but especially so for our little ones. When they’re growing up, it’s essential that your little rascal has a healthy, balanced diet which helps ensure they get all the nutrition they need.

Kids can run (or crawl in Leos’ case) like crazy, they burn a lot of energy and it is crucial to replenish it by using “real food”, food containing natural ingredients and not added preservatives, colouring or sweeteners. With the busy lifestyle, most of us lead these days, it is hard sometimes to find the right meal for our little one, especially when we are out and about, rushing from A to B and trying our best to get everything done in time.

Well, there is something on the market which can help with this dilemma 🙂

Petits Filous offers a great selection of natural fruit yogurts and fromage frais. We have tried them before (you can read about my Magic Squares here) but now there is a new addition to Petits Filous family – super handy 70g yogurt pouches which are ideal for on the go.

Petits Filous provides your child with the goodness of calcium and Vitamin D, which as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle, are critical for strong bones.

Toddler Life - Summer, Pool & Petits FilousThe new Petits Filous resalable pouches come in three different flavours: apricot, raspberry and strawberry. They are specifically designed with kids in mind and contain vitamin D which helps absorb calcium. As the main source of vitamin D is sunshine and we all know how much of a rarity sunshine is here in the UK, therefor it is necessary to top up through diet. Few foods naturally contain Vitamin D but luckily some foods, such as Petits Filous, are fortified with it. As to calcium, well calcium is essential because it gives strength to bones and teeth. Since our bodies can’t make calcium, it is important that children get enough in their diet.

Toddler Life – Summer, Pool & Petits FilousAnd in all honesty they taste delicious. I have to admit I am guilty of “stealing” one from the fridge every now and them 🙂

Have you tried any Petits Filous products?

If you did, which one is your favourite?

Pool Fun, Cuddleroar & The Wicked Uncle

Pool Fun, Cuddleroar and The Wicked UncleI remember when I was a child I had my favourite wicked uncle. Most times when he came with a visit he would bring some really amazing gifts with him. Thinking back now, these gifts were not all that special by today’s terms but 25 years ago in Poland a pack of Donald Duck bubble gum or a pencil case with a set of colourful crayons was really something special.

I was hoping that everyone has a wicked uncle in his life but as it ended up this isn’t necessarily true. Talking to my friends not everyone had the opportunity to experience the thrill of wicked gifting during their childhood. I think that it’s a huge shame but worry not I tell myself as nowadays there is a solution, an online wicked uncle. Yes, you are reading it right, there is a website called Wicked Uncle and they stock brilliant presents for kids, just like the ones I would dream of getting from my own personal wicked uncle as a child.

We received an opportunity to shop with Wicked Uncle and pick something suitable for our little one.

The website is very cleverly designed making picking the gift a fairly easy task. For starters it is split into gifts for boys and girls. Within these two categories gifts are segregated into appropriate age categories. Easy… just as I told you 😉

I wanted to get something practical yet special enough so it would bring a smile to his face. As summer is approaching us and hopefully even more warm weather is on its way, I picked a Dinosaur hooded bath robe – Cuddleroar by Cuddledry.

1. Pool Fun, Cuddleroar and The Wicked Uncle 2. Pool Fun, Cuddleroar and The Wicked Uncle 3. Pool Fun, Cuddleroar and The Wicked UncleI think the robe looks really funky and it is extremely useful. It’s large enough to cover your baby / toddler after a bath and a closing nap just under the chin assures that robe stays in place keeping your little one warm and snuggly. The fabric of the robe is very soft and very absorbent. So far we have washed it 5 times and it still looks just like new.

Pool Fun, Cuddleroar & The Wicked UncleThe Dinosaur hooded bath robe – Cuddleroar costs £39.99. It might not be the cheapest bath robe out there but it for sure is one of the funkiest looking ones and it would make a perfect gift.

Did you have a wicked uncle growing up which would spoil you with unusual gifts?

What do you think about my gift choice?

Would your little one like a robe like this?

Nappy – Little Swimmers by Huggies

A few months ago Huggies provided us with a pack of Little Swimmers and a lovely hygiene mat to go with it. It took us ages but last week we finally reached the swimming pool!

Baby loved it!

Just look at him; looking around and being so eager to have a splash himself.

According to The Telegraph 40% of children in Britain cannot swim! Apparently 25% of us think that it is the schools’ responsibility to teach children how to swim.

Personally I don’t agree with this. I think schools already have way too much on their plate and we shouldn’t be adding a life skill like swimming into it.

If you want to know more about baby swimming and its benefits please visit Huggies Little Swimmers there you will be able to find all the necessary information you could ever want. They even have a tip section on what to pack into a swimming bag whilst swimming with baby.

Can you swim?

Did your parents teach you or did your school provide some lessons?

What’s in my gym bag?

I was asked to share with you what’s in my gym bag. A bit confusing as I do not use a gym bag, I use a backpack but I guess it is pretty much all the same and it doesn’t really matter what “tool” we use to carry things around.

Have a peak… this is my gym bag in all its glory…

What’s in my gym bag

When I venture into a gym not only do I use the cardio machines I also go swimming as well. I find swimming very relaxing and it is a perfect end to my workout. So my gym bag contains maybe a few more items that your standard gym bag should have.

Let’s have a closer look…

What’s in my gym bag Gym shoes

Oh yes, it is very important to have the right footwear. I actually do not think that my ones are an ideal gym shoes but they work for me. A bit higher than your standard trainer for that extra ankle support and of course they are a Gore-Tex type so my feet do not smell after hours of sweating on the bike or a treadmill.

What’s in my gym bag Gym clothing

I like things simple so all I take for a gym session is a pair of pants, T-shirt and a spare pair of socks (mainly because I normally like to wear colourful, silly socks and they just do not go with my gym outfit). I tend to stick with cotton clothing. I know that there are a lot of manmade fabrics which are supposed to be better for you that help you to sweat or not (depending on what you pick) but personally I just like to wear natural fibres like cotton.

What’s in my gym bag swimming pool essentials

As for the swimming component of my gym routine I will take a swimming costume, swimming cap and a pair of goggles. My sister thinks that I look silly in my swimming cap, but it helps to keep my hair under control and in a good condition. When I first started to swim after a month or so my hair was totally ruined… worse still there was nothing my hairdressers could do to fix it. She advised me to always wear a swimming cap and to use a deep conditioner afterwards, so this is what I do and so far no more hair problems. I do actually have a pair of flip-flops to go with these bits as well, but it seems that they are nowhere to be found… I guess they must be in the boot of the car which annoyingly is in London at this moment.

What’s in my gym bag After gym care

This is my small selection of items I take with me. I do not carry a shower gel, I use the one provided by the gym. I also do not need to carry any towels with me as they are also provided. I do however take my own shampoo and conditioner just to be on the safe side, and to keep my hair in check of course.

What’s in my gym bag After gym replenishments

The ubiquitous bottle of water, some fresh fruit and some kind of nutritional snack are must haves after a good workout. I always seem to feel hungry when I leave the gym so I never forget about something to eat and an extra drink. Having a good energy bar, protein bar or a fruit one afterwards can really make my tummy feel happier.

So this is what’s in my gym bag.

Do you have any gym essentials you wouldn’t want to leave behind?

Anything you think I should be taking that I currently am not?
