Clean & Green – Almost Green Cleanser

All varieties of shakes, juices and smoothies are usually, very popular during the summer time. We have an abundance of fresh fruit and veggies to consume and so we try to mix them up in order to create something special. Some of these mixtures will no doubt have a pure self-indulgence purpose but some can be very tasty and a healthy addition to our daily diet.

This “almost green cleanser” was inspired by the Green Cleanser recipe from Clean & Green by Parragon Books. This lovely book is packed with an amazing selection of green juices, smoothies, shots and soups… and just as the title states they are all green 🙂

Most recipes don’t require any cooking (well… the soups do); all you need to make most of them is a blender or a juicer. So if you have these two kitchen appliance I would highly recommend buying Clean & Green.

But back to my almost green cleanser… I called it almost green as the original recipe calls for avocado, which would make the final smoothie really green. I skipped the avocado and replaced it with pineapple and redcurrants… so let’s start with the ingredients:

  • 30g curly kale
  • 2 springs of parsley
  • 2 kiwi fruits
  • 2 slices of fresh pineapple
  • 1 apple
  • Handful of redcurrants
  • Handful of crushed ice (optional)

Method:

Wash, trim and peel (if needed) your fruit and veggies.

Cut them into smaller pieces which will be more suitable for your juicer.

Feed all the ingredients, one by one, into your juicer.

Pour into a glass filled with crushed ice and serve and enjoy!

Do you like fresh juices and smoothies during the hot summer months?

Does the hot weather inspire you to eat more fresh fruit and veggies?

What would be inside your favourite green cleanser?

  1. For some reason, I was thinking this was going to be an article about homemade cleaning products. Oh wait, you can eat it? Even better! I would love if you would stop by and share this with my readers on #FoodandFitnessFriday! Every Friday other bloggers stop by to share their health-related posts and recipes. This would be an awesome addition!

  2. This is the first time I have heard about this green cleanser and I have never tried this kind of recipe before. But it sounds so healthy and easy to prepare as well. Thanks a lot for sharing this greeny recipe.

  3. I have heard a lot of good things about Kale and this recipe has it in it, plus two of my favorite fruits - fresh pineapple and kiwis. If eating healthy is this good, then I would make myself a drink everyday.

  4. This sounds like an awesome green cleaner indeed and I have never tried one before. I am learning to eat healthier now so I guess I will have to try this recipe. It sound amazing. Thanks for sharing.

  5. It looks great! Question though, does a cleanser mean it gives you problems in the bathroom? I don’t want to be running to the bathroom with you know what all the time. I’ve never done any kind of cleanser drink before.

  6. How could you skip avocado…nooo! My addiction! Hehe. Love sound of the red currants, though! Definitely like to try this. 🙂

  7. I thought eww! That doesn’t look nice when I first saw it but once you have listed the ingredients I changed my mind….It sounds very tasty! Very healthy too! I may have to give something like this a try 😀

I love all comments :-)
